DENNIS DEYOUNG RECREATES 30 YEARS OF MUSICAL HISTORY

Dennis DeYoung, former singer and songwriter of Chicago-based rock group STYX, will perform for one evening at 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 20th, at DeVos Performance Hall.

This live concert showcases the talents of legendary singer/songwriter/keyboardist/record producer Dennis DeYoung with his seven piece rock band. DeYoung’s voice is one of the most recognizable in the music world today and continues to inspire new generations of fans. He is known for such classics as “Lady”, “Babe”, “Come Sail Away”, “Mr. Roboto”, “Grand Illusion”, “Lorelei”, Suite Madame Blue”, “Rockin’ The Paradise”, “Don’t Let It End”, plus many more, including solo works and new music.

In September 2002, WTTW Chicago PBS taped DeYoung performing with his rock band, a full symphony orchestra and The Chicago Children’s Choir for PBS’ Soundstage.  This Soundstage pledge program is currently airing nationwide on PBS stations.  DeYoung followed this PBS performance by recording his live symphony orchestra concert in April 2003 at the historic Chicago Theatre.  The PBS DVD and double live concert CD are available at www.dennisdeyoung.com.

Ticket prices are $39.00 and $49.00. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 18th at 10 AM, and will be available at the DeVos Place® Van Andel Arena®  and box offices, Ticketmaster ticket centers including D&W Stores and select Family Fare locations, charge by phone: 1.800.745.3000 or on-line: ticketmaster.com.

DeYoung and film composer Alan Silvestri rearranged and re-orchestrated “Grand Illusion” for symphony orchestra and rock band, which closes the IMAX film Siegfried and Roy:  The Magic Box.  His latest ventures include “Come Sail Away” featured in the Disney movie Atlantis, Ja Rule covering one of his never released STYX songs “Castle Walls”, Foxy Brown sampling “Light Up”, and a spoof of “Mr. Roboto” in Austin Powers – Goldmember.   In recent years, DeYoung’s songs have appeared in movies and television shows, including:  Sofia Coppola’s Virgin Suicides; Adam Sandler’s Big Daddy and  8 Crazy Nights; New Line Cinema’s Detroit Rock City; DreamWork’s new release Old School starring Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn; Comedy Central’s South Park, NBC’s ED and ER; ABC’s Still Standing and CBS’ The King of Queens.    Volkswagen turned “Mr. Roboto” into a funny national commercial featuring two Wayne’s World-type guys jammin’ to the song.  In 1999, Universal Hippo Records released a compilation of DeYoung’s solo albums in their Ultimate Collection series, featuring music from “Desert Moon”, “Back to the World” and “Boomchild”.

Recently, DeYoung wrote and recorded a song for his wife Suzanne’s soon to be published book A Love Foretold.  The book, accompanied by the new release, is currently available at www.DennisDeYoung.com and will be available for purchase at DeVos Performance Hall the day of show.
